my new year's resolutions

It seems cliché, I know. And people are probably going to read this thinking: "She won't remember this in two weeks", but I am taking it seriously!

I need to change. That is my first new year's resolution.

I'm not going to be extremely disappointed at me if I don't keep them all. The main thing here is changing. If I reach that, even if just a little bit, I will be happy enough. But don't think I'll settle for less. I need to start believing in myself. I know I am capable of doing whatever I want to. If there is one thing I really need to change is thinking I am not able to do certain things. We all can do anything we want. I believe that our thoughts impact a lot our performance.

Over this break I read a lot about resolutions and why people can't keep them. I understand that we usually set extremely difficult goals and that we need to take baby steps. I tried to set up small changes like eating less sugar or being more patient. For me, these are baby-steps. I need to be ambitious, so of course my resolutions sound crazy and unrealistic!

1. MOTIVATION

I lacked motivation a lot last semester. I was so caught up with not mistaking that my brain simply shut off my reward-mechanism. Over the break I tried to relax as much as I could. I was able to see what were my improvements over the last 4 months, and that brought back my motivation!
My motivation resolution is to keep my safe sane and relaxed, so my brain can work well enough so I can achieve all my goals.

2. EATING LESS/WELL

Anxiety is my enemy. I get anxious too easy and that leads me to eat more, and sugar is usually the only thing that helps. Some people get anxious and stop eating, others start eating more. I am that person. I eat more.
After my parents arrived in Winnipeg, my anxiety has decreased. Life is easier when you have your parents close, supporting you. I've missed them a lot, and I thank everyday that they are here.
With this decrease of anxiety I started eating less. I realized I really don't need to have a snack every hour and that I don't need chocolate every single day.
It's not only to lose weight but also to keep myself healthy.

3. BECOME STRONGER

I've been practicing yoga for a year now and I can see all the changes it has done to my body.
I never really liked gyms and those machines they have. I look weird when I exercise on them and I'm pretty sure I do everything wrong.
Practicing yoga has taught me how to control my own body.
Yoga keeps you strong and yet very lean. It is great for mental health also. Meditation reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, helps with fat loss, gives you a better skin, increases our immune system, strengthens bone density, regulates blood sugar levels, and improves memory.
If you'd like to try meditation, here's a guide for beginners! Just take ten minutes of your day to devote it to your mental health. It's worth the try!

4. TAKE MORE PHOTOS

A couple years ago I wouldn't spend a minute without taking pictures. One of the reasons why I have a great memory of the things that happened in my life is because I have several pictures of it. I keep a journal since I was little, but pictures are the best way to capture the small details we don't put in words sometimes.
Because of the picture I have, I remember when and how I met my best friends, I remember everything that happened while I was in Virginia, and it also allows me to remember things I was too young to even keep it in my memory, like the day I was born.
I haven't taken pictures for a while. Over the years I've tried to avoid the lenses of a camera, but I need to change that ASAP.
I want to be able to remember things.

If don't see me posting at least one picture everyday, you can yell at me! hahaha

These are some of my resolutions for 2015. I think you'll agree with me when I say they are not hard to keep. It's the little things that make big changes. This statement is overused, but I believe is true! Follow me on Pinterest as I get inspired to keep my resolutions!

- I'd love to know what are your resolutions for this year!
